In the fall of 1999 Omaha Gunnlaugson and Magnus, Diane and Gearge Marc Schevene invited me to Paonia Colorado to present the story of Wondertree, Virtual High and SelfDesign to the people in the town. About this time a local community leader, Dev Carey was talking about the possibilities of an innovative program for home learning families with the local school superintendent, Laddie Livingston. Over the next months the community took the basic ideas introduced during the SelfDesign presentation and planned a program to begin in the summer of 2000. In June 2000, Michael Maser, Devon Girard and I (Brent Cameron) went to Paonia for ten days to train about 25 people in the methodology of SelfDesign. They decided to call their Learning Consultants - Resource Consultants and within the next three years the program grew to over 700 learners including the next two larger
towns.
Over the past six years I have served on the VISION advisory board and visited the town of Paonia each fall. The program is now under the guidance of three Directors and three Boards of Stewards.
